Pro mist is very aggressive in blooming highlights, raises blacks (which reduces contrast) and slightly reduces sharpness even at 1/8. Glimmer Glass reduces Sharpness, a slight bit of contrast, but tries to maintain little highlight blooming. ![]() Hollywood Black Magic, for example, blooms the highlights, but maintains very good sharpness and contrast at lower densities. Certain filters are do certain areas more than others. The basic principal of Diffusion filters is they lessen contrast, bloom highlights, or reduce sharpness. Other reasons would be to control how strong the effect the diffusion filter gives. Longer the lens, the stronger the filtration you usually need. This is for using different focal lengths due to longer lenses not keeping as a consistent of an effect. For diffusion filters, a general rule of thumb is to have multiple densities in a kit. ![]()
